Spending Your Life the Way YOU Desire

Do you live a life that you are happy with? Are you happy with the job that you do every day? What made you get into the position you are in today in your life? Was it your own dreams and goals that led you to where you are today? Is it your parent’s dreams and goals that led you to become the person you are today? Are you following what society says is right to do and basing your life choices on what is “right in this day and age?”

Christopher Morley once wrote, “There is only one success….to be able to spend your life in your own way.”

Too often we forget to truly ask ourselves what we want in our lives, what we really care about, and what makes us happy. We start on a path and sometimes we get so caught up in everything happening around us that we end up 5, 10, or 15 years down the road with a life we don’t even like. You wake up not even knowing how you ended up here where you are today.

Life is beautiful, a gift, and only so long so we should be spending this blessing enjoying our lives the best we can.

That means getting in touch with what we truly desire, not what everyone else around us is doing or wants us to do. Imagine if Elon Musk or Steve Jobs decided that they were going to follow the regular traditional route and go to work for a normal company. The world would be a lot different today without many great pieces of technology that have made monumental changes to the world and our lives.

One person can change the world no matter what other people say, and you can be that person.

So, don’t let people get to you that say you can’t get what you desire. That you should get a 9-5 if you don’t want to have a traditional lifestyle. Don’t let people tell you you have to marry by a certain age if you enjoy being single and want to create your own life before you incorporate another person into it.

Stop trying to please the people around you, society, and the rest of the world’s desires.

You are your own person and you are unique and filled with your own desires. So don’t suppress them. Expand upon what you like. Get in touch with your feelings and your goals because there is no book of instructions for this life of yours.

You have the capability to write your own bluebook and instruction manual.

If I had decided that I was going to suppress my dreams of expanding my view of the world and I was too scared to start modeling then I would have missed out on becoming who I am today, all I have seen around the world, and the amazing experiences and memories I have had the opportunity to take. The truth of the matter is when I came to NYC at 17 early in my senior year I was so scared of the city. I felt lost, like a tiny person in a big world, and unsure if I could survive in a city 100x bigger than my home. However, today when I walk on the street and look back at how far I’ve come I knew that it was the best decision I have ever made!

So defy the odds, create your own desires, and make your dreams a reality. It won’t always be easy, but I promise you it will be worth it!

You can do this!!
