Spending Money with Purpose
I recently read this book about money and it really changed my perception on my outlook. We can look at money as a way to buy a new Louis Vuitton bag, fancy dinner, or a vacation. However, when does buying things become boring and we realize we can’t fulfill our lives in all aspects by our purchases?
I use to have all these negative feelings towards money that I did not even realize were there subconsciously.
I use to feel that money created so much fighting, hatred, sadness, and greed that I did not even care about obtaining it. I was happy being barely on the edge of making it each and every day. However, these feelings I had were making me resent money and push it away rather than having the mindset that I can be prosperous and well off while having still a great life emotionally.
I truly believe the first step of gaining prosperity, wealth, and consistent money flow is to get down and dirty with your emotions and to change your perception to have a positive outlook on money.
The beauty of money is that the more you have the more you can do good for the world.
I know this statement sounds weird, but let’s talk about it just for a minute. When I read this sentence in a book once I actually felt blindsided like holy shit how did this not come to me before. You can do charity work and donate your time, however being able to donate to a cause and to helping people find ways to collaboratively work on their problems will make a bigger difference than anything else ever will.
Now, I am not saying that anytime there is a bad situation somewhere or an issue we throw money on it to sugar coat it and it is a one and done mission accomplished.
Money can be used to accomplish good with a plan of action and a way to help others become self sufficient themselves.
Also, let’s make it clear I am also not saying that donating your time and volunteering is a waste of time. I truly believe that giving back in any way makes a difference in this world.
However, what if we all started to view money as a way to be our most authentic self and give back with the more we have, rather than having a lot of money equals greed.
The reality is that we all think about money constantly whether we realize it or not. Whether we are always worrying over how to get more because we do not have enough, or if we have a lot of it we more than likely think about how to get more and how to spend it. Money controls us more than we really control money.
If more people looked at money as a way to giving back, this world would be a much better place for all of us.
I am not saying you can’t keep the money you make for yourself, however try to share a little bit with the world. Today, even if you do not have much money try to give back in one form or another even if it is only giving a dollar or two to someone in need.
I am telling you there is no feeling better than spending money on helping someone else.
If you want to read more into this new mindset about money I highly recommend reading “The Soul of Money” by Lynne Twist. It was a real life changing book for me. Now, let’s all make some money so we can be the highest and best version of ourselves for ourselves and for the world.
