Sharing Happiness

Hi everyone, I hope you had a nice Halloween weekend! Today we are talking about happiness. In particular, I want to talk about that a quote I found: “happiness never decreases by being shared” by Gautama Buddha. Happiness can be defined in many different ways. Some people find happiness by events, moments, people, or maybe even objects.

Happiness to me is the pure joy that flows through the body and makes you break a smile without even trying to.

Life is unpredictable where we don’t know where today might take us, tomorrow, or our whole future for that matter. Life brings a plethora of emotions to us throughout our lives. However, out of all the emotions, I feel happiness is one of the most amazing feelings.

The beauty about happiness is that you can help spread happiness to other people and generate this feeling within others by just simple gestures.

Think for a moment about a little act of kindness that someone did for you unexpectedly. Say for example someone brought you over cookies or maybe even a small gift without you expecting it. That gift and kind gesture put a warmness through your heart and soul and a smile onto your face.

Everyone in this world is at a different stage in their lifetime and facing their own personal struggles and emotional battles.

You might not even know how a small kind act of kindness can go such a long way as making that person be able to continue to push on with his/her life and to feel that the world is not against them. I also really like the concept of sharing happiness because it does not have to be a transactional way of giving to others.

Even simple acts can generate this emotion including holding the door open for someone, helping someone get an item off a shelf they can’t reach, complimenting someone, and on and on.

There are so many opportunities to shed happiness and share smiles into this life of ours out to society and the world beyond.

The most amazing thing about sharing happiness is that it makes you happy inside from making someone else happy.

Happiness is contagious!

Sure that might sound selfish for a moment, but hear me out. Think of the last time you received a compliment and how it made you smile and feel better about yourself for the time following. Or think about the last time you bought a family member a gift vs. when you bought a gift for yourself. I don’t know about you, but buying something for yourself wears off faster than the joy of someone liking a gift you gave them does.

So my challenge to you this week is to try to share happiness.

Maybe you make a goal to try to do one good deed each day to share happiness. Maybe you even write it down each time to keep track of all the warm moments you were able to share with someone else. Now, remember the most important thing to spreading happiness is to do it out of the goodness of your heart, not for something in return and not insincerely. Spreading happiness this way will quickly revert the happiness away. Now, go spread some happiness. I promise you it will make you happier to go about your day as well. Little moments can make the world of a difference. I hope you have an amazing week and as always thank you for reading!

xoxo
