Letting Go of What Is
Hi everyone, and welcome back! I hope you are having a great week so far. Sorry for the hiatus I was on vacation and living in the dream world of no responsibilities. It was extremely nice, but back to reality, we go. This week I want to talk about a topic that is much easier said than done….
letting go.
I recently read this incredible book called “Living Untethered” by Michael Singer. I read a lot of self-help and self-improvement books. Yet, this one really opened my eyes to a new direction. I find that self-improvement books can be rather repetitive and even though we might take something small here and there, how often do we actually apply it to our lives? How much do we actually obtain from reading the text? This book made me evaluate life differently asking myself….
Do we ruin the present moments put in front of us because we have expectations that we put into the world of people, experiences, and beliefs?
Do we ruin the beautiful moment that is playing out in front of us because we are upset that it did not go the exact way we wished it to? But then we have to ask ourselves: what is the right way that it should play out? Who put a rulebook in front of us that meeting people should go a certain way, that the experience or trip should go a certain way, and that if it does not play out as we desire in our mind that it all went wrong? Who are we to try to change the present moment as it plays out in front of us? Are we losing the beauty of the now by stressing if it goes “perfectly?”
Do we have it all wrong?
In case you can’t tell, this book really made me think. We might be the pure reason that we are uptight, upset, and constantly disappointed in life because we put too many expectations out there. What if life is not supposed to go a certain way for better things to come along?
What if we are so busy fighting the stream of the current trying to go back up the river when our best options are flowing with life downstream to the new paths, people, and journeys that await us there?
We just might be able to really enjoy the beauty of life, the peace of the moment, the happiness of the now if we can set all expectations aside and just let what is be. What you may be holding onto today, is setting you back from being the person or exploring the journey that is meant to be for you tomorrow.
xoxo
