Disconnect
It’s the beginning of a fresh new year. We all have created new goals, expectations, and dreams for our self to achieve this year. It is a fresh blank page of opportunities waiting for us to write them. Writing them is easy, the hard part is executing, staying focused, and making these resolutions a reality and beyond. This year for me I have set forth multiple goals for myself, and I hope to achieve them all by the end of the year. As great as these goals are, it is also important that I take time to breathe, relax, and enjoy the year as well. This doesn’t mean becoming lazy and sitting watching Netflix the whole year, but actually enjoying the in between moments and taking in success when it does occur. We live in a society where we always want bigger and better, where this moment right now is never good enough. I had this dream a couple of days ago that I woke up and 2019 had already passed in literally ten days. It was such a scary thought and feeling that I missed out on a whole year. The scariest part was how fast the year had seemed to go. As we get older, time does fly faster and I can only imagine how fast time will fly by the age I am 50. I don’t want to think of that right now though, as I want to be in the present here with you enjoying writing this journal entry expressing my thoughts.
This year, my goal is to be more present. To be more in the moment. To stop worrying about future issues I can’t control such as if I am going to book this job I really want, or how much money I will make next month, or if I will ever get any health issues in my life. We are wasting our own time and life by making ourselves overly stressed. We will achieve more in our life by being aware of what is going on around us mentally and physically. We will be able to succeed in ways like never before. We will see life from a new perspective like never before. Just like the goals I created this year, being present is a lot easier said than done. This year I don’t expect to be able to forget all my worries and be completely care free, but I will expect myself to work towards this goal. So, this year, I hope you achieve all your goals and dreams. I hope you even exceed them, and in the process of growing your life in no matter what aspect I hope you take time for yourself. Take time to disconnect. Put your phone down, get off of Facebook, quit overwhelming yourself with negative news, get IN THE MOMENT and breathe in the fresh air, smile, and appreciate this tiny second and where you are at right now.
Best of Luck!
